National Science Education Standards

The content of "Flower Power!" is appropriate for students in grades three through twelve. There are specific National Science Education Standards that are discussed in "Flower Power!" They include the following content standards:

Grades 3-4:

• Life Science: Characteristics of organisms (NC SCoS Grade 3 - Goal 1)
• Life Science: Life cycles of organisms
• Science and Technology: Understanding about science and technology
• History and Nature of Science: Science as a human endeavor

Grades 5-8:

• Life Science: Structure and function in living systems 
• Life Science: Reproduction and heredity (NC SCoS Grade 7 - Goal 5)
• Life Science: Diversity and adaptations of organisms (NC SCoS Grade 8 - Goal 5)
• Science and Technology: Understanding about science and technology (NC SCoS Grades 6, 7, 8 - Goal 2)
• Science in Personal and Social Perspectives: Science and technology in society (NC SCoS Grades 6, 7, 8 - Goal 2)
• History and Nature of Science: Science as a human endeavor

Grades 9-12:

• Life Science: Molecular basis of heredity (NC SCoS Biology - Goal 2)
• Life Science: Biological evolution (NC SCoS Biology - Goal 3)
• Life Science: Interdependence of organisms (NC SCoS Biology - Goal 5)
• Science and Technology: Understanding about science and technology 
• History and Nature of Science: Science as a human endeavor

MPSC offers seasonal schedules of Science 360 shows to the public. Follow this link to see the current schedule of public shows at MPSC.

Please note that seasonal schedules change four times each year (spring, summer, fall and holiday), and some shows are not offered during every schedule.

In addition to its public shows, MPSC offers shows during the week especially for school classes and other field trip groups. These school shows do not appear on the seasonal schedule but do appear on MPSC's daily calendar.

If seats are available, the public may purchase tickets to school shows.

However, school groups with reserved seating have first priority on any remaining seats (for example, if extra chaperons attend), so MPSC cannot guarantee that public seats will be available for school shows.
