Richmond County Scholarship Program
The Scholarship
Morehead Planetarium and Science Center receives generous funding from one individual for Richmond County students to attend programs at Morehead. The Richmond County Scholarship Program covers each student’s ticket and a transportation subsidy of $200 to each school.
Eligibility
Morehead's broad range of educational programming enables elementary, middle school and high school teachers to apply for the scholarship. We also encourage seventh-grade and high school biology teachers to apply for the "DNA: The Secret of Life" movie.
Programming
Morehead Planetarium and Science Center offers planetarium shows, Discovery classes, Science LIVE! demonstrations, exhibits and movies that will capture your students’ imaginations and illustrate key science concepts. Following the installation of fulldome digital video technology in February 2010, Morehead now offers immersive, state-of-the-art fulldome planetarium shows. To learn more about Morehead's range of programming, please visit our Now Showing page and follow the links.
Application
To apply, click on the link to the online application form. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis during the school year. You will be contacted within two weeks about the status of your application.
Appreciation
Gifts such as this make it possible for Morehead Planetarium and Science Center to bring science education to North Carolina children who might not otherwise have this opportunity. To ensure the continuation of this wonderful program, please take a moment to have your class write a thank you letter and we will forward it to the scholarship donor.
