Ethel R. Ivey Scholarship
To benefit the schoolchildren of Lumberton.
The Ethel R. Ivery Scholarship is generously providing funding to Lumberton County schools for students to attend programs at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. The Food Lion Scholarship Program will cover each student’s ticket to one show and provide a transportation subsidy of $150 to each school.
Morehead's broad range of educational programming enables elementary, middle school and high school teachers to apply for the scholarship.
Morehead Planetarium and Science Center offers planetarium shows, Discovery classes, Science LIVE! demonstrations, exhibits and movies that will capture your students’ imaginations and illustrate key science concepts. Following the installation of fulldome digital video technology in February 2010, Morehead now offers immersive, state-of-the-art fulldome planetarium shows. To learn more about Morehead's range of programming, please visit our Now Showing page and follow the links.
To apply, click on the link to the online application form. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis during the school year. You will be contacted within two weeks about the status of your application.
This scholarship program would not be possible without the generous support of the Reef Ivy, who established this scholarship in honor of his mother, Ethel R. Ivey. Gifts such as this make it possible for Morehead Planetarium and Science Center to bring science education to North Carolina children who might not otherwise have this opportunity.
