Parking
Questions concerning the parking lot in front of Morehead Planetarium and Science Center should be directed to the UNC Department of Public Safety at (919) 962-3951.
The parking lot in front of Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is a gated-lot owned by UNC-Chapel Hill, not by the Planetarium. The University may monitor and restrict usage of the lot as needed and parking may not be available.

Parking in the gated lot in front of the Morehead Center costs $1.50/hr. There are also metered spots on Franklin Street. There are also two parking decks on Rosemary Street that are a short walk from the Planetarium.
| Buses |
Buses will not be allowed to park in the Morehead parking lot. Bus drivers should pull into the Morehead Center parking lot, drive to the front of the Planetarium building, and let teachers and children off the bus. Children can congregate on the sidewalk in front of the building while one adult goes to the Ticket Office to check in. Buses will then proceed to off-site parking at University Mall (two miles, 5 minute drive). Buses should return to pick up the group at a time designated by the group leader. Planetarium staff can help group leaders determine the approximate time. It is helpful if bus drivers have a cell phone. CB radios are available from the Planetarium office.
| Nights and weekends |
The lot in front of the Morehead Center is gated with the hours listed at the top of the page. The metered spots on Franklin Street are free nights and Sundays. Many of the lots on the University campus are also free. The pay lots on Rosemary Street are also available but do charge on nights and weekends. The Rosemary Street lot is a short two-block walk from the Morehead Center.
