Outreach Programs by Morehead

Service to the State of North Carolina — that's part of Morehead Planetarium and Science Center's educational mission.

Morehead is centrally located, but North Carolina is a big state. Some school districts may be a five-hour drive from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Morehead's home.

To serve schoolchildren across the state, Morehead offers outreach programs, including these:

  • DESTINY Traveling Science Learning Program, serving high schools
  • DREAMS, serving middle schools
  • PLANETS Portable Planetarium Program, serving elementary schools
  • Science in the Summer, a GlaxoSmithKline program that delivers science camps to libraries and other community sites

TryScience.org, the first worldwide science museum, is a gateway to the excitement and learning experiences offered by science and technology centers worldwide. The Web site contains on and off-line interactive, multimedia activities that will change continually as new experiences and exhibits are created for visitors. In addition, TryScience offers tips to parents and teachers on ways to engage young people in the world of science.
