Morehead Legacy Club

John Motley Morehead III created the Morehead Planetarium for the citizens of North Carolina, establishing a legacy of science education. Since the planetarium opened in 1949, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center has provided science education for more than one million visitors.

The Morehead Legacy Club recognizes this legacy and honors all donors who include Morehead Planetarium and Science Center in their gift and estate planning. Morehead Legacy Club members receive formal recognition in the Morehead Annual Report and on a signature donor plaque within the Morehead Building. Each member also receives an annual pass to Morehead, as well as invitations to occasional special events.

You may qualify by naming Morehead as a beneficiary in a will, trust, life insurance policy, bank/brokerage account or retirement plan or by making a planned gift of securities or real estate. For more information about these opportunities, please contact External Relations Director Jeff Hill at (919) 843-7995.

Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Membership dues qualify as charitable contributions to UNC-Chapel Hill and may be tax deductible. Please refer to Internal Revenue Service Publication 526 for more information.
