Beth W.

Education: Senior, Math Education Major

Hometown: Statesville, NC

Experience with Children: I am a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and have been working in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Durham since my freshman year of college. I tutored students at A.L. Stanback Middle, Frank Porter Graham Elementary, New Hope Elementary, and Shepard Middle. Last year, I volunteered with Morehead Afterschool Program. In addition, last summer I was a camp counselor at the Morehead Planetarium.

Goals for School Year and Career: This will be my last semester before I begin student teaching in the spring, so I hope to excel in all of my classes and finish my college career strong. I also hope to make a strong connection with my cooperating teacher and students at Voyager Academy where I am student teaching. I want to become the best teacher I can be.

Hobbies/ Fun Fact: I am addicted to Words With Friends, which is an updated version of scrabble. I also enjoy hanging out with kids at school, camp, afterschool, etc. I am also a huge fan of various television shows. Mondays and Tuesdays are my busy nights!

Why did you choose to work at Morehead?: Morehead is such a fun and exciting atmosphere to work in. I love playing and educating students on a daily basis. Pretty much, I love that everyone is guaranteed to have a great time while at the planetarium!
