Profiles in Genomic Science at UNC-Chapel Hill

Genomics Montage

The Morehead Planetarium and Science Center’s “Profiles in Genomic Science at UNC-Chapel Hill” exhibit chronicles the leading research being done on the University campus in the field of genomics.

The information has been adapted for online exhibits. The following exhibits are now online:

The Genomic Revolution
Learn about UNC’s commitment to being a leader in the field.

Unveiling Plant Mysteries
UNC scientists work to understand plant immune systems and ways to make them more resistant to disease.

Target Practice
At UNC, common yeast and simple worms, coupled with advanced technology, may provide the answers we need to understand the origins of disease.

Strides Against Breast Cancer
Different types of breast cancer can make the often deadly disease difficult to treat. However, research at UNC is helping to helping identify and treat the different forms.

Stem'ulating Growth
UNC research helps identify, isolate and study stem cells amd sheds light on important nervous system functions.

DNA: The Secret of Life
"Profiles in Genomic Science at UNC-Chapel Hill" is part of the Morehead Center's DNA project. "DNA: The Secret of Life" is the centerpiece of the project. This breath-taking, original Morehead film retraces the discovery of the DNA double helix structure and peers into the future of genetic research.
