Maura E. Thornton

Hometown: Vass, NC

Experience with Children: I have worked at camp Waldemar for girls teaching horseback riding to girls aged nine to sixteen, and I have also coached polocrosse for young children for the last few years.

Goals for Summer and Career: This summer I am very excited to work with science and children, two of my favorite things. For my career in general I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor.

Hobbies/Fun Fact: I am a fencer for the UNC varsity team and I also play a really fun horse sport called polocrosse, which is analogous to lacrosse on horseback.

Why did you choose to work at Morehead? I had class by Morehead during this past semester and I would always see groups of kids running around outside with a couple of UNC students. It just looked like such a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere that I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
