Experience with Children: This will be my third year working at Morehead with summer camp, the science stage, the Fulldome Theater, Girl Scouts, and many other programs. I also babysit for a few of the families I met through summer camps. I am a member of the community service fraternity at UNC (APO) and through their organization I have tutored local elementary school kids and helped out with a Carrboro Cub Scout Troop.
Goals for Summer and Career: My goals for this summer are: to have the best summer at Morehead to date, work on my sock tan lines, and learn at least 5 new awesome games from the kids. Last summer I learned Wizards, Elves, and Giants, (like rock, paper, scissors, but so much better!) Blob Tag, and Ninja! I will also be an administrator at our new site in RTP so my goal is to make Kestrel Heights as amazing as Morehead! My goal for my career is to attend PA school and become a Physician's Assistant, but I would also love to find a way to hang out at Morehead forever!
Hobbies/Fun Fact: My favorite hobby is rock climbing--indoor and outdoor-- but I also love reading, crafting, and building sand castles. I prefer the beach over the mountains, but I love snow skiing. Fun Facts: I had a pet Bearded Dragon named Flat Stanley when I was growing up, and I held a Koala at a wildlife facility in Australia.
Why did you choose to work at Morehead? I started working at Morehead three summers ago because I wanted a summer job in Chapel Hill and it seemed like a really great opportunity. I have continued to work at Morehead since then because I have fallen in love with science education and the wonderful children and staff that fill this building. I spend my days blowing up jelly beans and traveling through space, and everyone around here appreciates my corny science jokes. Morehead provides an excellent environment for me to learn and grow, which in turn allows me to provide a similar atmosphere for all the kids I teach.
