Morehead's Holiday Concert Series 2012

Whether your favorite holiday music includes traditional carols, popular tunes or instrumental classics, you'll be able to enjoy the sounds of the season "under the stars" during Morehead's traditional Holiday Concert Series, beginning Nov. 30, 2012. All concerts are scheduled in the GlaxoSmithKline Fulldome Theater with stars, constellations and other celestial objects projected onto the dome for your enjoyment during the musical performance.

Meet UNC's premiere a cappella groups, featuring talented students who have recorded albums and performed for audiences worldwide.

The all-male Clef Hangers (known popularly as "The Clefs") were UNC's first a cappella group when they formed in 1977. They've released 17 studio albums, performed for audiences in seven countries, appeared on "Good Morning America" and earned CARAs (Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards) for "Best Song" and "Best Soloist" in the collegiate male category. They've also become known for their bow ties! The Clefs will perform selections from their holiday album "Carols from the Hill."

The ladies of The Loreleis have released 10 albums since they formed in 1981, and they've performed with everyone from Ben Folds to the Red Clay Ramblers. They've won CARAs for "Best Album," "Best Song" and "Best Soloist" in the female collegiate group category; toured internationally; and performed live on "The Today Show" and "Good Morning America."

The John Brown Quintet

The John Brown Quintet interprets holiday songs as jazz and bebop performances, featuring Ray Codrington on trumpet, Brian Miller on saxophone, Gabe Evens on piano, Adonis Rose on drums and band leader John Brown on bass.

Band members will perform songs from their holiday album, "Merry Christmas, Baby."

The Sandbox Band

The Sandbox Band specializes in entertainment for kids and families, with songs that will keep your kids dancing in the aisles! The band will perform songs from its Christmas album, "Snow Day!"

And there's a special treat for ticketholders: Come early (beginning at 6 p.m.) to make your own musical instrument, with the help of educators from Kidzu Children's Museum, and play it during the concert.
