Meet A Scientistposted Tuesday February 21, 2012
"Meet A Scientist" is an informal program offering children and their families an opportunity to meet and talk with real scientists about current research. This free program is best for children who are ages 8 and older.
In March, "Meet A Scientist" welcomes Dr. Adrian Marchetti, a marine scientist. Join Dr. Marchetti to explore phytoplankton -- microscopic algae that live in aquatic environments and produce half of the oxygen we breathe. Make a simple microscope and use it to examine phytoplankton for yourself!
"Meet A Scientist" with Dr. Marchetti is scheduled two times on Saturday, March 17:
- 12:30 p.m.
- 1:30 p.m.
Dr. Marchetti is an assistant professor of marine science at UNC. He studied at McGill University, University of British Columbia and University of Washington. You can learn more about Dr. Marchetti's research here.
