Osborne will join the audience for two special "Magic Tree House®: Space Mission" PREMIUM shows in the planetarium. She will speak briefly before each show, and she will sign books after each show for the children in the audience.
You can reserve your seats here, but be sure to read the information in this section first!
When are the premium shows?
There will be one premium show at 9 a.m. and another premium show at 11 a.m. Doors will open 15 minutes before show time. MPSC expects capacity attendence; please allow plenty of time to park, pick up your ticket, visit the restroom and attend to any other pre-show needs.
What do premium show tickets cost?
Each ticket to a "Magic Tree House® Space Mission" premium show costs $20. The same price applies to every guest who enters the theater, regardless of age. If a child is age 10 or younger, he or she must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver, and both must have tickets.
Due to the success of the online registration, Morehead has decided to open a special "late registration" period for the remaining seats to the 9 a.m. show. Please note the special payment instructions that you will receive in your confirmation e-mail if you register during this late registration period. The late registration period begins June 2, 2008. MPSC will not accept requests by telephone, fax or e-mail for premium show tickets.
INFO FOR PEOPLE WHO REGISTERED PRIOR TO JUNE 2, 2008: After you have reserved your tickets online, please submit your payment by mail or in person at the MPSC gift shop. You may pay by cash (do not send by mail), check, VISA or Mastercard.
Tickets will not be mailed. Instead, you will receive a "zero balance" statement by e-mail when MPSC has processed your payment. IF YOU PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS BY 11:59 p.m., May 28, 2008, you may present a printout of that statement at the MPSC gift shop any day after May 30, 2008 (including the day of the show) to pick up your tickets. IF YOU PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS AFTER 11:59 p.m., May 28, 2008, your tickets will be available at will-call on the day of the show. Please bring a printout of your “zero balance” statement to expedite the distribution of tickets.
Please note: If MPSC has not received payment for your reservation within 5 business days, or by noon, June 6, 2008, whichever comes first, the reservation will be canceled.
There are no refunds on premium show tickets unless the show is canceled by MPSC.
Other frequently-asked questions
Do MPSC members get free admission? Can I use coupons or passes?
These premium shows are fundraising events. For this reason, you may not use any discount, free pass or member admission privilege for either premium show.
Proceeds from these premium shows will help MPSC continue to offer free public programs such as exhibits, NASA Digital Theater shows and Family Science Days.
May I bring books from home for Mary Pope Osborne to sign?
Mary Pope Osborne will sign one book for each child. You may bring a book from home, or you may purchase a new "Magic Tree House®" book from the MPSC gift shop.
Assistants will greet your child in the book-signing line and ask for his or her name, so that Mary Pope Osborne can include your child's name as she signs the book. She cannot customize the inscription beyond that, due to the number of children attending.
May I take a photograph of my child with Mary Pope Osborne?
Certainly. You'll need to take the photograph quickly, while your child is standing at her table and she is signing your child's book. There will not be time to pose! Please note that her eyes are very sensitive to flash illumination, so she will not look up while you are taking the photograph.
Will MPSC follow its regular schedule on June 7, 2008?
MPSC will not follow its regular Saturday planetarium show schedule on June 7. During the morning, admission to the gift shop, Star Theater and astronaut hallway will be limited to ticketholders attending the premium shows. These areas will open to the public at 1 p.m., and regular planetarium shows (at regular prices) will resume at 1:30 p.m.
Other areas of MPSC — the "Ancient Carolinians" and "Zoom In" exhibits and all NASA Digital Theater programs — will be open throughout the day. MPSC guests should enter the building through the west entrance (facing McCorkle Place) to reach these areas before 1 p.m. on June 7.
